Our Mission
The mission of UVA VRS is to enhance the health and safety of the University community by delivering timely, compassionate, and professional Basic Life Support (BLS) emergency medical care on University grounds in coordination with partner public safety and EMS agencies.
UVA VRS is committed to professionalism, safety, accountability, student leadership, and service.
Our Founders
UVA VRS was founded by a group of UVA EMTs and AEMTs passionate about emergency medical services, rapid response, and serving the University community. UVA VRS was established to provide student-led pre-hospital emergency care across Grounds. Guided by a commitment to campus safety, public service, and clinical excellence, UVA VRS continues to support the UVA community through emergency response, event standby coverage, and student leadership in EMS.
Partnerships
UVA VRS works closely with the University of Virginia Department of Safety and Security (DSS) to support emergency preparedness and campus safety across the University community. Through this partnership, UVA VRS receives operational oversight from Chief Timothy Longo and medical direction from Operating Medical Director Dr. Brady, helping ensure that student responders are supported by strong professional leadership and clinical guidance.
